Yet another maniacal week in the dog pound!Things are wrapping up now, the t-shirts have arrived, and the sweatshirt order has been placed. Everyone is getting pumped for our journey to Duluth next weekend, as it will be quite an adventure! We are excited to cheer our team on to victory and miss two days of school. ;)See you at the competition!
It has been another kooky week in Robohuskie, but things have simmered down now that the robot has been "bagged and tagged"! Last weekend, Robohuskie participated in a practice game at Simley High School. Although we did experience some technical difficulties, the simulation of the game at Simley was quite helpful, and it allowed us to see what changes needed to be made to improve our robot. After the practice game, the build team worked on the robot continuously up until 11:05PM on February 21st.
Time is winding down on the build season! With only a few weeks left until Duluth, the build team has been working around the clock. Adding to the pressure is the need for a functioning robot for the two demonstrations this week as well as a scrimmage on Saturday. The robot has come very far in less than two weeks! It's going to be very exciting to see this robot in action soon.
It has been quite a week in Robohuskie land! The build team is working on creating an arm to push down the bridge located in the middle of the field. They are also brainstorming and experimenting on how to mount a shooter on the robot. Be sure to check out the video to see our shooter in action! (click on "read more" or "Build Season Week 4 Update" or refresh the page to view the video) In previous weeks, the build team has created a roller and an elevator for the basketballs.
This past weekend (January 7) 5 students, including myself, went with mentor Ken Hugill to the University Of Minnesota to watch the FIRST Robotics competition kickoff. The game this year is "Rebound Rumble". From the FIRST website: "The game is played between two Alliances of three teams each. Each Alliance competes by trying to score as many of the basketballs in the hoops as possible during the two-minute and 15-second match. Balls scored in higher hoops score teams more points.
FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) robotics competitions are held in 45 regions throughout the world. We're hoping that all our programming, engineering, building, and competing teach us the skills we need to be successful in the future.
St. Anthony Village High School's robotics team, which participates in US FIRST's annual robot competition, is getting ready for the 2012 season.
This year, the web team is designing a site with the following goals
1. Be usable on all devices that can access the web: smartphones, tablet computers, and desktop computers. No matter what size the screen you are using, we hope to make the site look good and be easy to use.
2. Describe our reasons for using a content-management system (CMS) to manage our web site.
